Although you could just download the hack from Zeta-Designs to make all foliage non-grid conformable, here is a simple guide by ShenTirag on how to individual make objects and foliage in ZT2 non-grid limited!
The 'Main AI XML' file is located in YOUR PROJECT.z2f/entites/objects/foliage, scenery ect/ai/YOUR FILE NAME.xml
