For those of you who don't know what theHunter is, it's an online hunting game for the PC and is probably the most realistic hunting game on the market, both in terms of graphics and mechanics. You can play it for free with two different hunting sites available and a liscence to hunt mule deer. If you buy the full version, there are many more hunting sites to choose from and you can hunt animals like the Moose, Black Bear, Coyote, Pheasant, Red Deer, Wild Boar, Turkey and a few others. The premium version is extremely cheap, only $15.00 for three months, and $45.00 for an entire year. There are other types of memberships available too but I won't get into that - the purpose of this thread isn't to advertise the game but to show you all some of the animals i've brought down successfully. I haven't got premium so I only have mule deer to show you at the moment, but I plan on buying it very soon (so excited!!) so you should see some specie variety in the near future. Just a side note for those of you wondering - I don't hunt in real life (I don't have the heart to) but I do respect it and I have no quarrel with those who participate in it. I do enormously enjoy hunting in video games though - I love the challenge of it; of tracking the animal and trying to spot it before it spots me, of testing my patience to its limits, and that immensely satisfying moment when you finally pull the trigger and bring it down after hours of tedius tracking. This first trophy i'm going to show you is the very first deer I ever took down in the game, and what a beautiful animal to start off my hunting career with. It's a buck with an impressive rack of antlers, and I can tell you I was pretty satisfied by the end of this hunt. Hunt Statistics Weapon: .243 Bolt Action Rifle (Wood) Shots: 1 Hit accuracy: 100.0% Confirmed kills: 1 Kills per hit: 100.0% Shot distance: 662ft (201.940m) Distance Travelled: 1.50km (0.93 miles) Hunt Duration: 42 minutes Posted Image Trophy Statistics Specie: Mule Deer Sex: Buck Score: 22.362 Weight: 67.742kg (149.3lbs) Time of harvest: April 7, 2012, 10:29 (AM or PM, not sure) Feel free to strike up a conversation on this thread about the game if you'd like. If you have any questions about it then just ask and i'll try to answer :) Here's a link to the site itself if you'd like to give the game a go: http://www.thehunter.com/pub/index.php Warning: Hard game alert! This game can be extremely difficult and i've nerd raged a number of times while playing, and i'm probably one of the most patient people you'll ever meet. If you haven't got any patience or very little of it, you'll find this game very challenging. Just a heads-up! |

I haven't heard of the deer attacking you, but I imagine the bears and other carnivores will do it. I'll find out for ya once I buy the premium :P I really hope they do, it'll just add one more level of realism to the game, which is already incredibly realistic as it is. |

Yep! I believe they only go on the offensive as a last resort though. They'll flee first, but only if they're incapable of doing that will they stand and fight. Maybe the game creators decided to exclude any fighting functionality for the deer simply because it's a rare occurance anyways, although they've got a pretty good realism streak going on so far and the game is still in development, so maybe we'll see it added as a later feature. I'm actually going to double-check really quickly to make sure the deer can't actually fight, because i'm 90% sure they can't since i've never had such an encounter nor have I read about it happening, but i'll look it up just to make sure. By the way, the hunting game you're talking about wouldn't happen to be one of the Cabelas hunting games by any chance would it? |

Looks like a fantastic game graphics-wise, although not something that interests me immensely. I'll check on this thread from time to time though, just to see how you play it and if anything interests me when you buy the full version. |

Sure thing Snyf! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment and check out the thread despite not having much interest in the game. I take it you aren't a fan of hunting games in general? @Ghost: LOL! Nope, no porcupines :P That would be cool if they were included in the game though. @Bigwhale: I dont' like the new generation of Cabelas hunting games, but I adore the older ones for the PlayStation 2. My two all-time favorites are Big Game Hunter 2005 Adventures, and Deer Hunt 2005 Season. Big Game Hunter gives you a massive amount of maps to play on and a very long storymode, as well as a large variety of species to hunt including big horn sheep, moose, elk, bison, lynx, bears, wolverines and many others. However, while Deer Hunt is generally a smaller game with only a variety of different deer species to hunt, I feel like that game is much more refined in terms of graphics as well as gameplay mechanics and the overall presentation. For example, the main menu music and design is incredibly appealing, sharp, and the music is so intense that you can't help but feel empowered/energized/motivated by it, and just really pumped up to play the game ;D I just had a look on youtube to try and find a video showing the main menu and the music, but unfortunately I don't think anyone has made a series featuring that game. At any rate, these two games tie as my favorite cabela's hunting games. I love them both equally for their different qualities. Anyhow, this is my profile on theHunter. Anyone else here who plays the game, feel free to add me! Name: TheTyker (Tyker for Tycooner...clever eh? :P ) Posted Image Notice: I just got premium! You guys shouldn't have to wait long to see some variety in my trophies. |
