Thanks Ghost! It's true that I haven't grown bored of the game yet, but it is getting easier as I become more adept at spotting animals. There's a lot more of them around than the game would have you think; you just have to know what to look for.

I have! Two times, and both times it was completely by accident. The first encounter was at...Redfeather falls? and I was on a mission to murder me some turkeys, armed with a simple handgun and a turkey box-caller. I was walking through the woods when I suddenly emerged onto a riverbank without warning, and directly across from me, standing in the shallow water and on the bank was a herd of 5-6 red deer and a massive male moose. I was so overwhelmed that I instantly drew my weapon and let fly a bullet, taking barely any time to choose a target (it was such a split-second decision that I don't even remember if I chose the moose or one of the deer), but, as you would have it, I couldn't take the animal even though i'd hit it because I wasn't using the legal gun for hunting that specie. >.> D'oh!

My other encounter was during one of my roe deer missions. I'd gone searching for red deer many times in the past but had been completely uncessessful, being unable to even spot one, nevermind take one. So, when I stumbled across two females in a wide-open field, I was so eager to take one that I put caution to the wind and tried to shoot one from a distance...using a pistol. D'oh. >.< My eagerness lost me my trophy because I hadn't even injured the animal before it fled, which I should have seen coming considering I was using a pistol which is only effective at short to mid-range.

So yeah... :P No Red Deer yet. XD

This update is just for you, Canis. :P My first Red Deer trophy. Also, just let me know if this photo is uncomfortably large for you guys. It's the perfect size for my computer screen and it loses quality if I shrink it, so i'd like to keep my photos this size from now on as long as it's not too big for everyone.

That was a great kill. I like the red deer's design. So does the real animal too!

I can't believe you're still playing this game either! But really, I do like the graphics A LOT! And the fact that the game puts so much detail on weapon type and animal injuries is just spectacular! I'm surprised this game isn't more popular.

Hmm... yeah, I can see that. That's really interesting. Peaceful never would have come to mind, but you're right, it does look peaceful. I think it has to do with the colours, and maybe the way I arranged the deer as well. I love how the same game can produce so many different kinds of atmospheres and emotions when it comes to the photos. I feel like it'll help keep my thread interesting and worth looking at, even once we've seen all of the different species the game has to offer. Thanks for the comment!

And not just the weapons and injuries, but the animal behavior too. Different breeds of deer have different ways of moving and running, and the game reflects this. For example, Whitetail deer engage in a rollicking, galloping run to put as much distance between themselves and their predators (or in this case, the hunter) as possible, while Mule Deer use a means of escape called "stotting". When a muley stots, its hooves move in unison and leave and hit the ground at the same time, making the deer look something of a four-legged pogo stick. :P I've seen them running like this a number of times in my hunts.

Thanks to you too, Bigwhale, for the comment. :)

I have so many new trophies that I don't know what to show you guys first, so i'll just go ahead and post one of my new all-time favorites. I think this is the most realistic photo i've managed to get so far, all thanks to the perfect location and the sun being in just the right place to create some beautiful - IMO - lighting. I hope you guys like it, and you can look forward to seeing the long-awaited Black Bear update tomorrow. :)
