Hunting games are why I came to love deer - and all ungulates, really - in the first place, so maybe not quite as ironic as you think :) Anyhow, bear with me as I show you a few more of my deer trophies, then i'll try to take down some bears and birds for you guys! I was hoping to start up a conversation/debate about hunting so feel free to check that out if anyone's interested :) |

This is really quite interesting TZT! I can relate to your "speech" about your opinion on hunting, really relate. I would like to try this game sometime! I have a question. By not owning a premium account, can you list the animals you can hunt, and the places you can hunt in? Also, do you receive a confirmation email? Because my email isn't working at the moment. |

I'm sure you make a valid point, but I'm really too sleepy to respond. I have nothing against hunting for food, and I think it's natural as well. But great photos! The graphics look spectacular! |

I'm glad to have sparked your interest Canis! The only animal you can hunt with a free account is the Mule Deer, and two of the ten locations are available to choose from; the Field Lodge and Border Lodge, both found within the Loggers Point Reserve and both of which include heavily forested hills with some open plains. What's awesome is that depsite the limitations you still get what's basically a full game for free, it's just that it might get boring after a while from always hunting the same thing and always using the same guns and equipment. Definitely worth the time to check out though :) And yes, you do get a confirmation email when you sign up. Thanks Snyf :) The game actually allows you to rearrange the animal when you take the photo so that it looks as nice as possible; the only problem is that it has ragdoll physics and so it can be rather hard to manouever it and it can get pretty hilarious when you end up flailing it about either by accident or in frustration :P Anyhow, here's another of my trophies. Hunt Statistics Reserve: Loggers Point Weapon: .243 Bolt Action Rifle (Wood) Shots: 1 Hit accuracy: 100.0% Confirmed kills: 1 Kills per hit: 100.0% Shot Distance: 208ft (63.410m) Distance Travelled: 3.45km (2.14miles) Hunt Duration: 58 minutes Posted Image Trophy Statistics Specie: Mule Deer Sex: Buck Score: 126.219 Weight: 97.075kg (214.0lbs) Time of harvest: Sept. 23, 2012, 00:50 (AM or PM, not sure) Point of impact: Body |

I see. Looks like I'll have to wait to get my email sorted out :P To be honest, I don't really mind that you can only hunt Mule Deer. What interests me is the amount of detail put into the environment, and the amount of realism in the game. Most games you can kill something with one shot. In this one, you have to keep quite, have different tools to try and lure an animal, and then you also have the chance of having a missed shot. I'm going to really consider this :) |

For sure! That's what I love about this game too. As for getting a one-shot kill, even if you hit the animal, unless you hit a vital organ then chances are great that it'll still be well enough to flee, and then you'll have to go through the tedius process of tracking it again. However, if you managed to hit a spot on the animal heavy with arteries then it will leave a blood trail which is pretty easy to follow, and it may even end up dying from blood loss before it gets too far away. Despite this, i've still managed to lose at least two or three of my trophies because I couldn't find them again, one of them being a moose that i'd been tracking for probably more than an hour :/ Dissapointing, especially since I was doing that hunt at around 4-5am :P So, you always want to attempt a clean, one-shot kill if at all possible, because this way you'll save yourself the time and effort of tracking the animal again, plus it's never a good thing to leave an injured animal running around. It's cruel, and despite this being a videogame I like to play it as if it's real-life. The realism makes that easy to do and it's much more fun that way :P Hopefully you can get your email sorted out soon so you can play, and then feel free to come to me for advice if you ever have any questions ^_^ I won't pretend i'm an expert hunter, but i'm learning quickly and i'm sure I could give you some tips. Edit: Yeah, i've noticed that Thom xD |
